Purpose:

  • This position is Responsible for conducting all phases of pressure vessel and pressure system (PV/S) design, fabrication, repair, alteration, testing, inspection, and fitness-for-service analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts reviews of vendor drawings, calculations and other documentation.
  • Completes mechanical, thermal, and structural design and related analysis of pressure vessel assemblies
  • identify specific pressure vessel services they have been responsible for such as drums, vessels, columns, column internals, filters and coalescers, storage tanks, etc. and be able to demonstrate experience specifying, evaluating bids and reviewing vendor drawings for such equipment
  • Completes testing and submission of pressure vessel components for client approval
  • Prepares and/or assists chief estimator in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and equipment count for proposals, forecasts and change orders
  • Design and analysis of composite components
  • Manufacturing support of pressure vessel systems
  • Failure analysis of pressure vessel systems
  • Pressure vessel design and analysis
  • Pressure vessel piping design and analysis
  • Develop and test pressure vessel assemblies under client specifications

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to to wear and properly utilize task specific personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required
    • This includes hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done
  • Ability to sitting for long periods of time, sometimes up to 4-6 hours
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to computer screens and cellular telephone screens
  • Ability to walk, step, climb or otherwise move from one location on the job site to another, and normally involves physically getting into and out of equipment through the use of vertical mounted ladders up to and including 10’ or more in height
  • Ability to visually see equipment operations well (either naturally or with corrective lenses)
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, and sit for long periods of time as require by work being performed
  • Ability to complete repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work
  • Ability to lift 25 lb. objects occasionally
  • Ability to carry 25 lb. objects occasionally
  • Ability to adapt to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure to sometimes adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to working outdoors in all-weather conditions
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments and holidays as required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Must possess strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Project
  • Must possess knowledge of ASME codes, and API standards, such as ASME Section VIII Div1 & 2 codes, API 650/620, API 579 and other industry codes and standards typically used in Pressure Vessel design
  • Must possess broad knowledge of the application of Engineering to plant constructability as applied to construction methods and materials Must be self-motivated, hands on type of personality
  • Musty possess knowledge of non destructive testing (NDT) methods and practices including (VT) visual inspection and taking (UTT) ultrasonic thickness measurements
  • Must possess general understanding of Engineering planning and control methods
  • Must possess 3D modeling skills in software such as SolidWorks, AutoCad, and Inventor
  • Familiarity with Compress design software preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision of day-to-day tasks (issue datasheets, material requisitions, bid evaluations) to meet project goals for cost and schedule
  • Ability to apply flexibility in handling challenging multi-tasking workload
  • Ability to design for manufacture
  • Ability to work with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) experience is preferred

Experience:

  • Three (3) or more years of Pressure Vessel related experience in Oil and Gas industry required
  • Experience participating in model reviews and equipment walkdown at vendor’s shop required
  • Experience coordinating with internal partners, clients, and inspectors to resolve comments resulting from model reviews and equipment walkdowns required
  • Experience with ASME Section VIII Div 1, Div 2, and/or Section XII codes
  • Experience with ASME B31.3 Piping Code required
  • Experience with field installation / commissioning activities for pressure vessels is preferred

Licenses or Certifications:

  • OSHA 30 Certification Preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering

Travel:

  • Travel is required on an as needed basis
